Detroit ist bankrott, und nun will man die Meisterwerke aus einem der bedeutendsten Kunstmuseen der USA verkaufen.

Protest kommt natürlich von Museumsleuten:
" Monetizing the Detroit Institute of Art’s permanent collection will not
resolve the travails of a post-industrial city that has been wrestling with
corruption and graft for decades. Rather, converting the museum’s finest works
into liquid assets will only delay the inevitable while continuing to obscure
structural faults in Detroit’s management and ethical flaws in its leadership.
The capitalization of these works will also further decimate the city’s already
flagging tourism economy while denying its own residents access to important
educational and cultural resources; a classic case of cutting off one’s nose to
spite one’s face."
