Part of the Miller's Tale from Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer.
"The Special Collections Division of the The John Rylands University Library, The University of Manchester, holds outstanding collections of rare books, manuscripts and archives from the Middle Ages. Our Medieval Collection contains complete works of paramount importance in a variety of key subject areas, including History, Theology, Art, Literature, Language, and the History of Science and Medicine.
The basis of the collection is In the Bigynnyng, a project started in October 2008, to digitise and describe our collection of over forty Middle English manuscripts. The collection illustrates progress so far, including a medieval cookery book, a copy of The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer, several copies of the Wycliffe Bible and a richly illuminated copy of John Lydgate's poem The Siege of Troy.
We acknowledge the generosity of the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) who provided the funding to digitise the Middle English manuscripts. "
